Something Awful Smiley Downloader [Latest-2022]

Pidgin Something Awful Smiley Downloader automatically downloads the smilies from the Something Awful forums, and adds them as custom smilies in Pidgin.
The Pidgin smiley library is pretty incomplete, so it requires downloading the smileys to your desktop, and creating custom smilies on the fly.

Requirements:

2.4 or higher

Install Instructions:

Download and extract the.zip file

The.zip file contains the smilies.

The.zip file contains a folder named Win that includes an exe file named smiley_dl.exe

Launch the exe file

You can choose the folder where you want to save the smileys after you click on the smiley downloader window.

If you select the home folder, all the smileys you download will be saved in the home folder.

If you select a different location, then the smiles will be saved in the chosen folder.

In the smiley downloader window, you can also select the smiley format (hex, gif or txt).

The smileys will be saved in the path you selected in the smiley downloader window.

The current path can be changed later by clicking on the “Location” button.

When the smiley downloader is complete, it will automatically launch.

After the smiley downloader is launched, a notification window will appear.

Click on the “Install smiley pack” button.

The smiley downloader will now download the smileys.

After the smiley downloader completes the download, it will automatically launch.

You can choose to install the smiles on the fly.

If you choose to install the smileys on the fly, you will now have to manually add the smileys to the smiley library in Pidgin by going to:

Settings -> Plugins -> Click the smiley icon

From the smiley list, choose the smiley you want to add to Pidgin.

Click on the Install button.

From the smiley list, you can then choose to copy the image of the smiley you selected to your desktop.

The smileys will now be in your Pidgin smiley list.

Addition of smileys in the API:

If you want to add smileys to the API, follow the same steps as above.

Something Awful Smiley Downloader

This small script will take any text typed into Pidgin, and turn it into a custom Smiley.
There are over 9,500 smileys in the Something Awful archives, and this script will download them all.
On the forums it is impossible to see all of the smileys, they are hidden in numbered (and randomly) forums. If you have a lot of time you can just type in the forums and find them.
————————————————————————–
To install this script, just double-click on the executable. That is it. No need to run as root.
To get into the smiley archives, just start Pidgin with the PIDGIN_DEBUG environment variable set to the correct value. For example, with v1.3.1
pwd
export PIDGIN_DEBUG=1
pidgin
EDIT: Changed the way this script uses the DB so it doesn’t try and access a bad or non-existent DB. Also made the script more modern and an ISO standard compliant UTF-8
…Q:

Extended property parameters not being parsed

I’m trying to find out why the following simple XML can’t be properly parsed:

name
a name

I have a function definition
(
(key: string, value: string) => void
)

And the compiler spits out the following error message:

error TS2345: Argument of type ‘(key: string, value: string) => void’ is not assignable to parameter of type ‘(key: string, value: any) => void’.
Type ‘(key: string, value: string) => void’ is not assignable to type ‘(key: string, value: any) => void’.
Types of parameters ‘key’ and ‘key’ are incompatible.
Type’string’ is not assignable to type’string | number | boolean | string[]’.
Type’string’ is not assignable to type’string[]’.
Type’string’ is not assignable to type’string’.

It’s pretty clear to me

What’s New in the Something Awful Smiley Downloader?

Pidgin Something Awful Smiley Downloader is a program that will automatically download the smiley icons from the Something Awful forums, and add them as custom smilies in Pidgin. The program also extracts the avatar images from their respective forums and adds them as Pidgin contact images.
The program is fully configurable, so you can choose where to download the smilies, and where to store them. It is also possible to specify how many threads to download from, and how many smilies to extract from each thread. If you wish to use this for example to have the smileys on the first post of each thread, you can set the number of threads equal to the number of posts per thread, and the number of smilies to 1. The program will try to stay as unobtrusive as possible, and automatically choose the best suited forum, and the best suited thread to download the smilies from.

3. Installation

Extract the downloaded archive to the Pidgin Something Awful Smiley Downloader directory. The installed directory should be in the same directory as Pidgin. You can create a new folder and move the installed file there. (Look in the Pidgin directory to see where Pidgin is installed)

4. Configuration

If you want the smileys to automatically download when Pidgin starts, open the Pidgin > Plugins > Plugins > Plugins > Pidgin Smilies and follow the instructions in the FAQ. If you have a FAQ, please post it here, and this guide will be updated.

If you have more than one forum, or several threads from the same forum, you should set the number of threads to download from, and the number of smilies to extract from each thread. For example:

Set the number of threads from 1 to 9.

Set the number of smilies from 1 to 4.

This will automatically download all smileys, and extract them from all threads, and add them to the Pidgin Contacts. This will take a long time, depending on how many smileys you have, and how many threads.

You can also use this to have smileys for every post from a thread, regardless of the number of posts in that thread. In this case, set the number of threads to the number of posts per thread. For example, if there are 1,000 posts in a thread, set the number of threads to 1,000. This will download all smileys from all posts, and extract them from the threads.

5. Usage

After Pidgin starts, click on the Smiley Icon button in the Pidgin menu. A menu will open showing all the custom smilies that Pidgin has. You can create new smilies by right-clicking on the smiley menu, or you
